The goal is to create one of the most attractive, functional, and student-centered fraternity houses at the University of Idaho while preserving the rich history and character that make FarmHouse unique.

A Renewed Vision for One of the University of Idaho's Premier Fraternities
FarmHouse Fraternity at the University of Idaho has always been committed to providing an exceptional college experience built on brotherhood, leadership, academic achievement, and personal growth. As we continue to invest in the future of our chapter, we are creating a modern living environment that supports student success while honoring our rich tradition dating back to 1957.
In 2013, the Idaho Chapter of FarmHouse launched a capital campaign to enhance the exterior appearance of the chapter house and create a more traditional fraternity presence on campus. While the campaign did not fully achieve its funding goals, it sparked important conversations about the long-term future of the chapter and its facilities.
Following the chapter's temporary closure in 2020, FarmHouse alumni, volunteers, and supporters took the opportunity to evaluate what would be needed to ensure a successful return to campus. Through extensive planning and consultation with local experts, alumni, and community members, it became clear that the FarmHouse facility possessed something invaluable: a strong foundation and tremendous potential.
Investing in Modern Student Housing
Rather than pursuing cosmetic improvements alone, FarmHouse prioritized critical infrastructure upgrades that would provide long-term value for future generations of University of Idaho students.
One of the most significant projects included replacing the home's original boiler system with a state-of-the-art three-unit heating system. Combined with previous energy-efficiency improvements completed during the 2010s, these upgrades have dramatically enhanced the comfort, sustainability, and reliability of the facility.
Additional major improvements included the installation of a new roof and numerous building enhancements designed to preserve and strengthen the chapter house for decades to come.
Thoughtful Design that Honors Tradition
FarmHouse partnered with experienced design professionals who understood both the history of the chapter and the needs of today's college students.
Interior renovation plans were developed by Kristin Pond Montgomery and Kim Kliewer, both Alpha Gamma Delta alumnae with strong FarmHouse family connections. Landscape and exterior enhancements were designed by FarmHouse alumnus Will Howard, Principal of Stack Rock Group.
Together, these professionals created a vision that blends FarmHouse traditions with the home's distinctive mid-century modern architecture. The result is a welcoming environment that promotes brotherhood, community engagement, academic success, and lifelong friendships.

The extensive renovation effort came to life during 2022 and 2023, with major demolition and reconstruction transforming the chapter's common spaces into modern, functional gathering areas.
When FarmHouse members returned to the facility in August 2024, they worked alongside the chapter's Facility Management Committee to complete additional room renovations, including:

Fresh interior paint
Updated window coverings
Energy-efficient LED lighting
Enhanced storage solutions
Modern furnishings designed for student living
Individual rooms are being outfitted with modular furniture packages that include lofted beds, study desks, ergonomic seating, and expanded clothing storage to meet the needs of today's college students.

Furniture Day Marks Another Major Milestone for FarmHouse Fraternity at the University of Idaho
The FarmHouse Fraternity chapter at the University of Idaho celebrated another exciting step in its facility renovation project on March 21, 2025, with the arrival of brand-new furniture for the first-floor residential rooms.
Chapter members took the lead in unloading and moving the furniture, demonstrating the teamwork, leadership, and brotherhood that define the FarmHouse experience. Alumni volunteers provided guidance throughout the day, while Papé Machinery of Moscow generously donated the use of a tractor and operator to assist with the project.
Throughout 2026, FarmHouse members will continue assembling and installing complete bedroom furniture sets, including new dressers, wardrobes, lofted beds, study desks, and comfortable two-position chairs. These upgrades are part of the chapter's ongoing commitment to providing one of the premier fraternity living experiences at the University of Idaho.
The newly renovated facility is designed to support student success by offering comfortable living spaces, dedicated study areas, and a strong community environment where members can build lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, and excel academically.
